Socializing at event

OVERVIEW

An Industry Voice Since 1968
The Canadian Hardware & Housewares Manufacturers Association (CHHMA) has been serving industry manufacturers/brand owners and sales agents for over 50 years.  The Association today is a national non-profit organization comprised of companies who manufacture, distribute and represent hardware and housewares products in the Canadian marketplace.

The CHHMA is one of the few associations in the country that works solely on behalf of the vendor community lobbying for cost efficiency and a level playing field.  The CHHMA follows proposed and draft legislation at both Federal and Provincial levels and, where applicable, representation is made at appropriate levels through consultation and advocacy to ensure that our members’ point of view is heard and to minimize the impact on them.  Once put into law, our attention turns to keeping our members informed, educated and compliant.

Over the years, the CHHMA has been an effective voice on important issues like data synchronization, product/packaging stewardship, product safety and other government legislation that impacts our members and the industry at large. We have represented our members’ concerns to retailers over arbitrary currency claw backs, new logistics and service programs, data synchronization and unwarranted and unfair deductions … with results.

Education, Market Information, Networking, Money Saving Opportunities
Throughout the year, the CHHMA hosts a number of educational seminars and webinars designed to provide members with the latest marketplace insights and trends as well as personal/managerial skill-building topics to help members in their day-to-day operations.  In addition, presentations from key retailers in the industry are also arranged to provide members with insights and important vendor expectation feedback including face-to-face interaction opportunities with top retail executives.  Events are held at very affordable rates and in some cases, at no charge to members.

One of the most valuable benefits of CHHMA membership can be the information obtained from the Association’s CORE, SMART & HR peer networking groups where members can attack critical problems in a friendly forum, discuss best practices and benchmark their company with others in the industry.

The CHHMA provides an industry-specific salary/compensation report based on surveys conducted every two years and distributes several market reports by product categories for members each year.  The Association keeps members updated on marketplace, stewardship and legislative news through a bi-weekly e-newsletter and bulletins when needed.

Each year, the CHHMA hosts several social events such as Maple Leaf Night, Night at the Races, the Industry Cocktail and Golf Tournaments offering members valuable networking opportunities in relaxed social environments with industry peers, affiliate partners, and retail customers.  These events often serve as excellent teambuilding occasions for members and where possible, include charitable components.

The CHHMA offers a number of money saving programs for our member companies as well as individual employees.  Key affiliate partners are top experts in their fields and can provide valuable advice and services to benefit members.  Some of these programs have saved member companies thousands of dollars.

Summary – CHHMA is a Great Business Investment!
The advantages are many and for companies that participate and utilize the Association’s programs and services, the cost of membership can be returned many times over!  The CHHMA is proud of the role we have played in the industry over the past 50+ years and we look forward to playing an even more important and valuable role for our members in the years to come.
